Simon happy with start and his Suzuki

WICKHAMFORD racer Simon Andrews finished tenth at last Sunday's British Supersports race at Thruxton.

On board his TAS Suzuki (GB), the Vale rider qualified 13th on the grid but finished tenth on countback after the red flag was put out because of rain three-quarters of the way through the race.

"I had just got past teammate Tom Sykes and Perri Riba, when the race was red-flagged but the final position is then taken from the previous lap," Andrews revealed.

"Tom and I finished ninth and tenth and these were the first points of the season for the team. We continued the progress made at Brands Hatch and the Suzuki worked well on the long circuit.

"It's a very fast bike and we started well but the pack got split into two groups and by the time we got to lap 12 my rear tyre had been smoking and spinning.

The Suzuki has an awesome power delivery and the continuing tyre development with Pirelli should see the team finishing further up the field and it shouldn't be too long before a Supersports podium is achieved.

The third round of the 2005 championship takes place at Mallory Park on Sunday, April 24.
