CARAVAN owners have been warned to take extra precautions following the theft of two caravans in the Cotswolds.
The first caravan, a white, 26ft long Bessacarr, worth £3,000, was stolen from the driveway of a house in Cirencester, between 11pm on Saturday, April 16 and 9.45am the following day. The second caravan, a cream coloured Bessacarr Wentworth, worth £4,000, was taken from outside a property in Eastington, near Northleach, between 11pm on Sunday, April 17 and 8am on Monday, April 18.
Mark Godsland, crime prevention officer for the Cotswolds, said it was important for caravan owners to do everything possible to protect their property. "By their very nature caravans are easy to transport once they are on the road, so owners should make it as difficult as possible for thieves to reach that stage.
"At home or on holiday you should always immobilise your caravan, even during brief stops on the road.
"Shut and lock windows, doors and skylights and don't leave valuables on display.
"Fit an alarm and some good quality security locking devices to your caravan and, if possible, security mark the caravan. When you park your caravan up for the winter block it in with other vehicles, or park it in such a way that thieves will not be able to tow it away easily."
Additional information about caravan security can be found at www.caravanclub.co.uk.
Anyone with information about the two missing caravans is asked to call police on 0845 0901234.
