Roadworks warning for motorists

COTSWOLD motorists are warned that road surfacing works are due to start this week and last until July.

Drivers are advised to drive slowly where surfaces have been treated and stick to the speed limits to prevent any damage to vehicles.

The treatment will affect mainly rural roads and consists of spraying a bituminous material on the road followed by stone chippings.

Gloucestershire County Council is completing the work to extend the life of roads and improve skid resistance by sealing the road surface.

Those roads affected by the work will be clearly signed in advance to warn residents and motorists of the work.

There will also be signs on site during the work to warn drivers about loose chippings.

These signs will be left until all the chippings have bedded into the surface or been swept off for safety reasons.
