Will gets it right to move to sixth

MORETON speedster Will Waterman continued his assault on the Junior British Karting Championships with a fourth place finish in round two of the competition.

Making his debut at the technically challenging Fulbeck circuit in Lincolnshire, Will gave some battling performances in the qualifying heats, including a scintillating charge from 27th on the grid to tenth place in one out-ing.

This helped him to secure a career-best third row starting position for the grand final and the 14-year-old took full advantage to finish in fourth place, after running as high as second at one stage.

"Fulbeck is very twisty, with some harsh kerbs and it's difficult to find a balanced set-up - especially when you've never raced here before," said Will.

"We had a lot of problems in the second day of testing and on Saturday night I really didn't like the track. But we worked hard on race day, I took my chances and I like it a lot more now!"

The result follows Will's solid start to the championship at Buckmore Park (Kent) last month, where he finished sev-enth in the grand final, after taking his first British Championship win in one of the heats.

Will has now moved into the top six in the championship, which next visits Lydd Inter-national Raceway (Kent) on May 22.
