TWO tiny villages with a combined population of less than 200 have big plans for their summer fete on Saturday.
Volunteers in Fifield and Idbury have been planning their annual fund-raising event since last autumn.
Fete chairman Vicky Orr-Ewing said preparations had been enjoyable in themselves, particularly four bunting-making parties held at the village hall. "To the accompaniment of much laughter and fun, many yards of bunting were made from pieces of left-over fabric and torn sheeting."
The bunting will dress the village for the event both this year and in future.
The fete will be held on the Fifield Recreation Ground from 12.30pm.
The event features a barbecue, a wide variety of stalls, raffles, games, face painting, a Beatrix Potter treasure hunt and a children's art competition.
Other attractions include a best-dressed-teddy competition, a flower festival in Fifield Church, open gardens, an art exhibition, a balloon race and music from folk player Tom Gay and the Chedworth Silver Band.
