Rafters rule on the river

THE Vale Triffids Super raft team staged their annual circuit race at Evesham Rowing Club last Sunday.

With a pleasing entry of 12 rafts from Belper, Tring, Dursley, Ross-on-Wye, Leom-inster, Hereford, St Albans and Henley-in-Arden, the four-man teams raced the eight-mile circuit between the Work-man and railway bridges.

The winners were Patricks Gulpers from Leominster in a time of one hour five minutes and 34 seconds, closely followed by course record holders Chevron from Hereford (1.06.0).

Wonder Wye from Tring finished third in 1.13.10, while the Triffids mens team came in seventh place and the mixed team came 12th.

The rafting circuit moves upstream on Sunday to Offenham where the Vikings stage their annual race.
