Summit side Shipston join Campden in finals

THE final round of June's pool matches in the Prudden Road Surfacing Junior Cup determined four qualifiers for the Finals Pool to be held on Monday, July at Bidford.

Pool A at Stratford was one of the closest groups and, whereas Bidford dominated last month, it was Snitterfield who won two of their three matches on this occasion.

The opening match saw the hosts go down to Bidford as Adam Ashfield and Patrick Forester lost to George and Harry Naylor 6-3.

Snitterfield's Thomas Griffiths and Jonathon Gill also beat the Stratford pair 6-2 and the decider between two winners didn't disappoint with Bidford squeezing out a 7-5 victory to claim a place in the finals.

Alcester were unable to field a side and conceded their games.

Pool B, hosted by Tanworth-in-Arden, also proved competitive despite the results eventually going Henley's way.

Harry Leek and William Bayliss defeated close rivals Claverdon 7-5 and then went on to defeat Studley 6-3 and Tanworth 6-1.

Claverdon's Matthew Will-iams and Alex Anthony recovered to beat Studley 6-4 and then Tanworth 6-0.

In the final match, Studley's Jack Allum and David Pilk-ington defeated Lawrence Tibbs and Adam Barber (Tanworth) 6-2.

Pool C saw Shipston remain undefeated, although closest rivals Chipping Campden gave them a real run for their money.

Andrew Moss and Craig Robins beat their Shipston clubmates Sam Buckingham and Philip Charman 6-1 before overcoming Freddie Nott and Chris-topher Dyer (Moreton) 6-1.

Campden pair Nick Hudson and George Richards also overcame Moreton and Ship-ston B by the same 6-4 scoreline. The latter salvaged some pride by beating More-ton 6-2.

The match between the top two proved extremely close with Shipston's A team only defeating Campden 7-6 after a tie-break to book their place at Bidford.

Pool D consists of only three teams and proved an anti-climax as Ombersley, unable to field a side again, withdrew.

This left only a one-sided match which Inkberrow's Chris Smith and Ricky Allan won 9-0 against Pershore pair Greg Mills and Rory Bow-cott.
