Theatre life captured in paint

AN interesting exhibition of 'visionary and theatrical paintings' from a former RSC Artist in Residence is on show in Chipping Norton from next week.

Diana Archer is taking over the theatre gallery not only with her new work but with some of the pictures she painted at the RST.

She said one of the highlights of her time there was painting a portrait of Iain Glenn as Henry V.

He was keen for her to capture the energy and charisma of the young King of England and was pleased with the results which were displayed in the foyer.

Other canvasses she painted while there included Toby Stevens as Coriolanus, Sir Derek Jacobi as Macbeth, Cheryl Campbell as Lady Macbeth as well as Clive Wood and Joseph Fiennes.

The exhibition runs from July 5 to 17 and is open from 10am to 1pm Tuesdays to Saturdays and during performances.
