Jazz and wine on the menu

TOE-tapping residents will be able to enjoy a feast of jazz music and entertainment at a forthcoming event in Barton-on-the-Heath.

Back by popular demand, Jazz on the Green will take place along with the village fete on Saturday.

Tom 'Spats' Langham will play at the fete to ensure it goes with a swing.

A variety of games, stalls falconry display and bouncy castle will keep visitors amused.

There will also be the opportunity to sample local home-made wine.

Gillian Caithie, one of the fete's organisers, lives at Barton House where they have been growing grape vines since 2000 and now produce 750 bottles a year.

"We didn't hold a fete last year and people seemed to really miss it so we are delighted to re-establish the tradition," she said.

An auction of prizes including a visit to the show Mama Mia in London. Entrance is free. The event begins at 4pm.
