Family affair in friendly

THE Corby family was again making the headlines last weekend when Shipston easily overcame Gotherington in Sunday's friendly match.

After Matt's century seven days earlier, it was the turn of dad Andy to reach three figures in a home total of 290-7.

The centurion was joined by his son, who made 71, in a third wicket stand of 160 before youngest son Tom joined in the fun with a quickfire 24 not out in the final three overs.

After opening bowlers Matt Mitchell and Matt Pratt had ensured Gotherington were in no position to overhaul the daunting target, it was the turn of the Corby family to finally ensure victory by 108 runs.

Nick, who also took an excellent catch, took 1-30 in an impressive spell with the ball. Brother Tom executed a neat stumping before father Andy took wickets with his first two deliveries and ended a superb all-round match by claiming the catch that brought Nick his only wicket.
