Sean and Chris on song but fail to earn win

STUDLEY clung on to third place in the Premier Division of the Prudden Road Surfacing League after gaining valuable points against Littletons.

Despite fielding four reserves, they secured a draw with both pairs beating their opponents' second pair.

Sean Witheford and Chris Elliott dominated the match for Littletons with wins over Chris McGregor and Paul Challens (6-1, 3-6, 6-2) and Roger Colley and Mel McGregor (6-1, 6-2).

Scott Witheford and Richard Herbo-urne lost to Colley and McGregor 6-2, 6-2 and to McGregor and Challens 6-2, 6-3.

Other result - Claverdon 3, Henley 1: Pieter Van-Hengel & Nigel Bacon (Claverdon) lost 6-3, 6-7, 2-6 to John Turner & Matt Ross; bt Julian Morris & Dave Scofield 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Richard Butler & James Courier bt Morris & Schofield 6-4, 7-5 & Turner & Ross 6-2, 6-1.

In Division Two, top beat bottom as Evesham defeated Ilmington 3-1.

Aston Cantlow and Inkberrow B shared the points and allowed Stratford E to take third place thanks to a resounding 4-0 victory over Alcester.

The top two teams in Division Three continued their winning ways with unbeaten leaders Moreton-in-Marsh accounting for Henley B 4-0 and then being crowned champions without even taking to the court.

Closest rivals Studley B overcame third in the table Littletons C 3-1 but they were then held t a draw by Bidford B who had earlier defeated Shipston B 3-1 to pull four points clear of bottom team Henley.
