CREWS from Evesham tre-kked to Wales for last weekend's Llandaff Regatta and the journey was well worth the effort with a haul of five wins.
On Saturday, the women's Senior II Coxed Four of Debbie Turner, Maxine Emes, Mandie Cox and Crystal MacLeod and cox Pauline Pollard remained cool in the scorching heat to easily overcome a home crew.
Turner then teamed up with Jane McIntosh to take the Senior IV Double Sculls, while MacLeod won the Senior II Single Sculls.
Evesham's men weren't left out with a single scull win for Steve Baldwin.
Temperatures soared the next day and the J16 boys blazed a trail down the 500m course to win easily over Monmouth Comprehensive.
The coxless quad of Marcus Hutchings, Tom Walker, Sergui Phoursa and Rob Dav-ies will now be hoping to repeat their success at next weekend's national championships.
McIntosh and Turner provided one of the day's most exciting races finishing in a dead-heat in the Senior IV Double Sculls against Llandaff. In the re-row, however, they were just pipped to the finish.
In the Double Sculls, the novice crew of Zara Cottrill and Jane Sullivan caused more than a ripple on the water.
Having won through to the semi-final, the women were neck-and-neck with their rivals from Llandaff when Sullivan caught a sizeable crab and fell off her seat.
A wave of laughter from the crowd almost matched the waves on the river as the women struggled to keep the boat upright They did regain control only to finish well behind their opponents.
