Matt a dual champion

CHIPPING Norton youngster Matt Johnson was crowned men's champion last Sunday.

The 14-year-old is now the junior and senior champion, while also boasting the lowest handicap - 2.1 - at the club.

Johnson carded rounds of 74 and 68 to take top spot by four shots from John Morewood and Mickey Roberts.

Cherry Steadman and Margaret Fischer, meanwhile, will represent Naunton Downs in the third round of the County Foursomes after victory over their opponents from Lydney.

The ladies have also been in friendly match action with mixed success.

They overcame The Vale 4-0 but lost out in matches played against Tewkesbury Park (3-1), Cirencester (2-1) and Minchin-hampton New (3-2).
