THE Bourton One-Mile Challenge is taking place on a very fast and flat course along the Rissington Road and finishing in the High Street from 6pm on Saturday.
The entry fee for elite and club runners is £5 and £3 for fun runners and children. Entries will be excepted on the night when there will be a £1 surcharge if the race limit is not reached.
The race is also a fixture in the Gloucestershire County Championship.
Race director Norm Lane started this event in 2003 when his aim was to see if someone could break four minutes for the mile.
It has never been done on the road in Gloucestershire and there is a £500 prize for the first male to break four minutes and £500 for the first female to better a time of four minutes and 29 seconds.
For more information phone Norm on 01451 810472 or e-mail ali.lane@ukonline.co.uk
