An Evening With Queen Victoria - Everyman, Cheltenham

WHAT sounds like an evening of stand-up or one of those celebrity love-ins, is in fact extracts from the Queen's journals performed with impeccable clarity by a woman who may justifiably be described as Britain's favourite actress.

Only someone of her stature could get away with impersonating the icon of our age.

From the surprisingly coquettish teenager to the ailing widow, Miss Scales brings to life the woman who, from many of us, is merely a grumpy spoilsport who spawned an era of puritanism and hypocrisy.

Among the many delights are her flirtatious relationship with her first PM Lord Melbourne and the musical interludes with tenor and piano.
