Choir set off to sparkle in Europe

TEWKESBURY School's choir set off on a trip for Europe last week to perform in a series of concerts.

The choir call themselves the Diamante vocal ensemble and following tours to Barcelona and Rome, this year their trip is to the Czech capital Prague and the tour will also take in Karlovy Vary.

The all-girl choir, founded in 2001, helped to raise funds for the tour by holding coffee mornings, concerts and sponsored car washes. They have been practising for the tour by holding twice-weekly rehearsals and performing at this year's Cheltenham Festival.

The tour will be particularly emotional for head of music Bob May, who is leaving after 26 years at the school.
