Pupils do a shady deal to raise cash for guide dogs charity

SHADE-wearing pupils enjoyed an eye-opening experience at a Long Compton school.

Acorns Primary School has raised pots of cash for Guide Dogs for the Blind as part of a project about the importance of caring for your eyes.

The children were treated to a visit from the Leamington representative of the organisation, Jill Robinson who brought in 10-month old puppy, Elvis.

Elvis, once fully trained, will become one of the dogs to help the charitable organisation.

Pupils also donated £1 to wear shades for the day with all proceeds being donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Teacher Tracey Bristow helped organise the fund-raising activities. Cakes were also sold during the week to raise extra cash.

She said: "The children had a wonderful time and it fitted in very well with this term's topic. Activities during the day also included blindman's bluff, playground games and the children also learnt about the parts of the eye."
