Owner's fury after horse knife attack

AN angry horse owner this week warned local people to be on the lookout after a thug armed with a Stanley knife attacked one of her animals.

Mr Bean, a 17-year-old, received a ten-inch wound to his groin in the attack, which happened while he was in a field.

Owner Barbara Keene of Todenham Stables, said: "This was touch and go.

"The wound was so serious and in such a difficult place to be treated that we were afraid that we might lose the old boy."

She added: "When we first noticed he had been hurt, we looked around to see if there was a natural explanation for what had happened.

"But there was no barbed wire or anything else he could have caught himself on.

"We had to call an emergency vet and he said the wound had been caused by a very sharp instrument, possibly a Stanley knife.

"Because of the nature of the wound it was not possible to stitch it, but fortunately Mr Bean is making a terrific recovery with the help of a lot of tender loving care from his many friends.

"He is almost blind, which makes this attack even more despicable, but he has a lot of friends in the area and is very well thought of."

Mr Keene said police had been alerted to the incident and added: "I would warn anyone who owns a horse in this area to be on the lookout.

"Whoever did this is sick and needs to be caught without delay."

Police were unavailable for comment.
