Losers stay top

Evesham and District Table Tennis Association

WYRE Barbedwyre continue to set the pace at the top of Division Two despite losing their first game of the season to Bengeworth Lions.

Mike Vick retained his 100 per cent start by winning his three games including a tight five-set win over up and coming Chris Pearce.

Pearce and David Hudson-Wood won two games each and then combined to take the doubles to inflict Barbedwyre's first defeat of the season.

The losers recovered to then defeat neighbours Wyre Coils 8-2 with Vick again claiming three wins.

Just behind the Barbedwyre are Bengeworth Sapphires who also have a game in hand on the leaders and overcame Littleton Diamonds 8-2.

Wyre Coils returned to winning ways with a convincing 7-3 defeat of Bengeworth 49ers with Malcolm Daley notching up a treble.

Bengeworth Green are finally off the bottom after winning their first game of the season with a 7-3 victory against the 49ers.
