Charity branch wins praise

THE chairman of Shipston and District Age Concern has welcomed praise for the group from its national body.

The national federation praised the branch for its commitment to older people in the area and for the high quality of its services.

Shipston branch chairman Win Botterill said that its 30 volunteers, who run three weekly lunch clubs at Rainbow Fields and Stour Court sheltered homes in Shipston as well as providing transport to hospital and outings for the elderly, deserved the recognition.

Following an inspection of its services in August, the local branch was commended for being well run and was considered to have complied fully with all aspects of the national federation's Quality Counts programme.
