Oxon rivals sunk in second half try glut

Stow IV 22pts, Witney IV 14

FOR the first time this season, Stow fielded a fourth team when they entertained a positive Witney outfit at Oddington Road.

The hosts had managed to bring back a few "legends" and they thoroughly enjoyed their run-out.

Witney started strongly but Stow were determined only for silly errors to mar their performance.

Two such mistakes allowed Witney to score a couple of converted tries to take a 14-0 half-time lead.

Stow began the second half well when they finally gelled as a unit. Scrum-half Steve Bowen found his form and worked well with James Collett and Matt Walton who began to put some phases of play together that resulted in three superb tries for Dave Gough.

Stow's forwards, excellently led by Pete McCreanor, now began to dominate all phases of play with both old and young giving their all.

The game was sealed with a superb try by outstanding flanker Steven Turner and Rob Loaders added the conversion.
