Close call in cup contest

Belmore Jags 2, Moreton Rgrs 1

DRAWING the top team in Division One away from home in the cup would surely see Rangers brushed aside with ease.

And, when they found themselves 2-0 down within 15 minutes, the London Road side's fears appeared to back up this assumption.

The visitors were chasing shadows as Jags knocked the ball around with confidence and arrogance.

However, they say goals change matches and, when Shaun Stanley's clinical finish brought the away side back into the match, this saying was certainly brought to fruition.

The home side were rattled and began to live up to their name - being animal-like. Rangers, though, stood firm and this young side held their heads high in the face of their opponents' bully boy tactics.

Although losing, Moreton can take pride in the character they showed after giving their illustrious rivals a real cup fright.
