Unbeaten record goes as Amby crash again

FOLLOWING their previous week's surprise exit from the Knockout Cup, Evesham Sunday League champions Ambassador slumped to their first league defeat of the campaign at the hands of the Red Horse.

First half goals from Grant Pinkney and Matt Staley gave the Horsemen the points and this season's title chase looks like being a tense affair with seven sides vying for superiority.

One of those seven, Upton Snodsbury, came from behind to defeat Broadway United thanks to a Stuart Spencer double. Offenham Rovers and Evesham WMC, meanwhile, shared four goals.

Mickleton Rangers reached the last eight of the Knockout Cup after overcoming Eckington 5-2 thanks to goals from Allen, Tye, Sexton, Donnison and Nemes.

Bretforton Old Boys remain at the top of Division Two after Paul Jones struck twice to help account for bottom of the pile Tewkesbury Town.

Closest rivals Alderton defeated Badsey Rec with Ashley Mitchell scoring twice, while a strong second half performance saw Oddfellows see off Shipston Excelsior with Scott Sears netting a hat-trick and Shaun Carter scoring twice.

Crowle moved three points clear in Division Three and are now the only club in all four divisions to have won all their league games.

They made it seven from seven in a match of penalty misses by both sides at Golden Cross where an own goal and a Hibbert strike sealed the points.

Moreton Town inflicted a first league defeat on Gardeners Arms thanks to strikes from Shurmer, Ashley Hurrell and Barnes. Jerry Smith and Griffiths replied for the losers.

Goals from Izod, Henry and Barton earned Pinvin the points against Queens, Staite and Cill were on target as Wickhamford overcame Norgren for whom Hedderman scored, while four goals from Haines led Ashton to victory over Sporting Theocs.

Fourth division Pebworth followed up their first win of the season with victory at Gate Inn where Ingram(2) and Sprigg were on target.

Cider Mill closed the gap on the leaders after Attwood and Holder both netted in a narrow win over Broadway Reserves for whom Cumberland scored.

Royal Oak banged in 13 against Blue Maze with Davies (4), Knight (3), Jackson (2), Martin (2), McNally and Shepherd all finding the target.

Bengeworth Sports accounted for Tescos with Wicks scoring six times and Lenches Lions gained a welcome win at Riverside thanks to goals from Pyatt, Paul, Cotterill and Tyrell.
