RESIDENTS of a Winchcombe street are celebrating after councillors gave the go-ahead for the removal of ash trees from the town's cemetery.
Winchcombe Town Council voted in favour of spending an estimated £600 to cut down the five, 30ft ash trees, which overshadow and overhang the gardens of six houses in Kenelm Rise.
The trees had originally been scheduled for the chop a year ago but Tewkesbury Borough Council placed tree preservation orders on them.
However, following objections, council planners decided that the trees were not significant and now the town council will have them removed.
"The residents have offered us replacement trees, which will accept, " said Mr Taylor.
