NORTH Cotswold police are warning the public to be vigilant when using cash machines in the run up to Christmas.
It follows an incident at about 5.30pm in Stow last Thursday when a local woman discovered a card-reading device attached to the cash machine at Tesco in the town.
The woman removed the device and headed for the store entrance but was intercepted by a man who snatched the device from her hand and ran off across the car park.
The man, who was aged about 20 and thought to be Eastern European, was chased on the main A429, where he managed to give his pursuers the slip.
