College death crash pilot named

THE pilot who died when his light aircraft collided with another plane in the skies over the Fire Service College in Moreton earlier this month has been named.

He is Graham Richard Wilson, aged 34, of St Osburg's Road, Coventry, who died after his Cessna 152 plunged to the ground following the mid-air crash at 12.30pm on Sunday, December 18.

A specialist pathologist, who carried out a post mortem examination last Tuesday, said Mr Wilson died as a result of multiple injuries.

Paul Boak, coroners' officer for the north Cotswolds, said last Thursday that he expected an inquest to be formally opened and adjourned within days but a full inquest would not be held until the air accident investigation report was available.

Department of Transport spokesman Andy Faulkes said he did not anticipate the Air Accident Investigation Branch report being made public for some time.

The pilot of the other plane involved in the collision was 62-year-old Christopher Ball of Oxleaze Grange, Hawling.

Mr Ball and his 62-year-old passenger from Sevenhampton escaped unhurt when he was able to land safely in the grounds of Lemington Grange near the college.
