  • Honeybourne

    WEDNESDAY CLUB: Members met on July 6 when Mrs M Boath presided. Birthday cards were distributed. There are still a few members on the sick list and members hope they will be back soon. Arrangements have been made for the afternoon mystery tour on Monday ending with a cream tea at Cosy Corner, Broadway. The coach leaves the village hall at 1.30pm. Mrs de la Bartouche, a member, took part in the charity run for life round Crown Meadow. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and raised a large sum of money for the event and was proud to show off her medal. Miss Jill Price put members through their paces with various exercises to music. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon with lots of laughter along the way. Cakes were made by Mrs Neal, Mrs Wetton and Mrs Whittaker and tea was served by Mrs Sylvia Mathews and helpers. read more

  • Moreton

    LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY: This year's tour of churches by Moreton and District Local History Society went further afield than usual by visiting Herefordshire to see three four-star churches at Leominster (Decorated), Kilpeck (Norman) and Shobdon (Rococo). Members took lunch in a quaint pub-cum-second-hand bookshop in Eardisley, where they also saw the sculptured font in the local church. They were accompanied by an official Herefordshire guide, Alan Bull, who was thanked by Ray Poulton, organiser of the tour, which took in magnificent scenery as well as churches. read more

    FIRST SCHOOL: The annual leavers' service was held this year in the school hall on Sunday morning and was well attended by children, parents and members of the usual Sunday morning service at St James' Church. A band, the Joyful Noisemakers, recently formed by Keith Davies and including several of the children of the school, provided the music which, judging by the enthusiastic singing of hymns, was greatly enjoyed by all present. read more
