Emma seeks amazing pets

IS your pet special? Does it have that sixth sense enabling it to warn you of impending danger? When you talk to your pet do you believe they may actually be listening?

If so, Bretforton writer Emma Heathcote-James would like to hear from you.

Emma is currently working on her fourth book which will focus on exploring the testimonies of people whose animals have performed exceptional acts of compassion, protection, healing, courage or have been part of a miraculous or mystical experience.

She is seeking stories from people who have a special pet or know of something extraordinary, that an animal has done.

Her own dog, Mr Mutley, is a registered Pat (pets as therapy) dog and it was from the work he was carrying out that Emma realised the exceptional healing qualities animals provide.

It is thought that dogs have the ability to sniff out cancerous tumours and the US Epilepsy Institute says that a dog can tell when a person is about to have a seizure.

After the Asian tsunami in 2004, it was evident that animals offered better early detection than any man-made technological system. "I spent last summer in Thailand and unlike the tragic human toll, no wild animal carcases were found along the coast of the Indian Ocean," said Emma.

University of Birmingham Graduate Emma hopes to encourage people to appreciate the qualities of animals and their attempts to alert people to danger. It is thought that animals have a sixth sense and could be used effectively in emergency forecasting rather than being treated as the property of humans.
