New police chief for town

SHIPSTON has a new police chief following a re-shuffle in the county force.

Chief Inspector Andy Johnson moves from the post of Stratford District Commander - where he was also responsible for policing in Shipston and the surrounding villages - to take over Warwick district.

He will be replaced by Chief Inspector Chris Ward, who returns to the area after two and a half years serving as a Chief Inspector for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, inspecting and assessing other police forces.

CI Ward, who was formerly an Inspector at Stratford, said: "I am delighted to be back in Stratford, where I have served for the majority of my 25 year service. I love the area and am very pleased to be working in such a positive environment where the community is very supportive. I will continue the good work of Andy Johnson and work closely with partners and the public for the good of the community."

Chief Superintendent David Whitehouse, South Warwickshire Area Commander, said: "Both Chief Inspector Johnson and Chief Inspector Ward are very experienced operational officers and it is pleasing that they will be able to use their diverse policing practice and knowledge for the good of the community. In addition, we will be able to continue developing strong and productive partnerships with all crime and disorder agencies in South Warwickshire."
