Rangers reeling as defenders in a daze

GOALS were in plentiful supply in the Stratford Alliance last Saturday when Earlswood led the way with an 11-goal Aquaid Division One drubbing of Badsey Rangers.

James Brearley and Mike Lowe both banged in hat-tricks for the winners, individual efforts matched by the Swan Inn's Ben Greenwood, Matt Layton of Bidford Reserves and Tony Wakefield of Halfords Reserves.

The Swan won 8-1 at Littleton to further improve their promotion prospects from Herald Division Two.

The other two matches in the section realised nine goals with Dog and Pheasant and Studley Nags Head hitting five and four without reply past respective opponents from Cubbing-ton and Shipston.

Layton netted three of Bidford's four in a Cutler Division Three defeat of Red Alert, while Wakefield's exploits helped Halfords win 8-0 in a second division cup tie at Henley Forest.

The latter's senior side fared better with a 4-0 top flight win at Quinton while Broadway overcame Alcester Lions 4-1 in the same section.

Shaun Stanley scored twice as Blockley Sports sent Ilmington Reserves crashing out of the Alun Rees Trophy, while goals from Nigel Yates and Paul Linguard helped FISSC Reserves defeat their Quinton counterparts by the odd goal of three in the Division Three Knockout Cup.
