Three men set to stand trial

THREE men who deny charges involving the alleged dangerous driving of a tractor that left a woman with 'grave injuries,' are to stand trial at Gloucester Crown Court in August.

At a hearing in December last year, Ben Launchbury, 25, of Tally Ho Cottages, Murcot, Broadway, pleaded not guilty to driving a John Deere tractor dangerously on the B4632 on January 7 this year.

Also on that date, Andrew Furness, 43, of Vale Farm, Saintbury, and Stephen Underhill, 22, of Willersey Road, Badsey, both pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting dangerous driving.

David Iles, defending Launchbury, said a woman had been gravely injured in the incident.

Last Thursday at Gloucester Crown Court, prosecutor Jay Kesner said that an expert reconstruction of the incident had now taken place, despite difficulties in getting permission to seal off the road in question for that purpose.

Judge Paul Darlow fixed the trial date for August 21 this year, telling everyone in the case not to book any holiday coinciding with that date.
