Win chance to play at festival

TALENTED musicians in the Warwickshire area are being invited to submit their original compositions to the Write it, Sing it, Perform it, competition to win the chance to play at the Warwick International Festival this summer.

This year's festival will include a fireworks concert with the BBC orchestra at Warwick Castle, the passion of Spanish food, music and dance and lots of live music from local singers and bands.

Entrants for the competition need to be under the age of 30 and are invited to send in CDs in any musical style.

They should also include a photo and a short biography and the inspiration behind the composition they are entering.

Festival spokeswoman Esther Blaine said: "We are thrilled to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity for young musical talent to perform at the festival. It will be a great opportunity for them to perform a professional gig and will create a platform for young creative talent in Warwickshire.

"The Warwick International Festival is an opportunity for the people of Warwickshire to experience a celebration of the tremendous talent that exists in this area and to come together as a community to enjoy a fantastic summer party."

The winners will also feature in all the publicity for the event, including the souvenir brochure, receive their own press campaign and photo shoot and have one of their songs played on radio stations across the county.

The festival runs from Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 9 at different venues in the area. The closing date for entries for the Write it, Sing it, Perform it competition is Friday, April 28. Entries should be sent to the General Manger, Warwick International Festival, Pageant House, 2 Jury Street, Warwick, CV35 9AU.
