ROYAL BRITISH LEGION WOMEN'S SECTION: The April meeting was well attended and the chairman read Motions for the National Conference at Blackpool on April 25 to 27 when Wendy Griffiths and Ray Green would be attending.
Details of the group meeting at Badsey on April 19 were given and a minibus arranged to pick up members at Broad Street at 6.45pm.
Items for the tombola for Pershore Carnival are needed and members were asked to deliver to any committee member or collection could be arranged.
An Easter bonnet parade was held and the winners were Sheila Smith and Stephanie Elphick. The next meeting is on Tuesday, May 2 at 7.30pm at Wulstan Hall. New members welcome.
LADIES' GUILD: On a sunny afternoon in April members were welcomed by the chairman. She introduced the speaker, Hans Meeries, a local man, who transported members to Munich with his slides of Bavarian Castles. These castles were owned by King Ludwig II, five castles in total including the well-known castle Neuschwanstain, which was featured in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a Walt Disney production. The slides showed the opulent decoration of these castles. The gardens were all modelled on the classic English style. The chairman thanked Mr Meeries for a very interesting slide show.
After tea the business part of the meeting commenced. The chairman thanked Ann Rowe for organising the new tea rota. The meeting was advised of the new committee members. Various reports were read and details of the forthcoming visit to Stanway House and Gardens on June 20 were discussed.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 2 when the speaker will be Jean Harper talking on Herbs and Things. The sales table will be store cupboard. Visitors welcome.
