CHARITY EFFORTS: Daniel Clements, who did a sponsored 24-hour fast to raise money to pay his expenses for a visit to Uganda where he intends working this summer in the Kamazinda village for children orphaned by the Aids virus, has reported that the effort raised £708. This was Daniel's second fundraiser; his first was a coffee morning held before Christmas which was also successful and means that he has now almost reached his target. Daniel has thanked everyone for their support and interest in his plans.

Tracy, daughter of Jane Parry, whose name is well-known in the village and whose courage in coping with cancer has been admired, sacrificed her long hair to raise £750 for St Richard's Hospice, as a gesture of appreciation of the care and support her mother has received from them.
