Crowle edge tocup win

BEFORE a large and enthusiastic crowd at Littleton on Sunday evening, Crowle lifted the Bird-seye Sports Evesham and District League's Bluck Cup after an exciting 3-2 win over Eckington.

It was Eckington who struck first after eight minutes through Stevens. Crowle levelled through Haywood and, two minutes into the second half, Hatchett gave Crowle the lead.

When Burrows headed home 16 minutes from time, the tie looked over but a late goal from Hughes set up a tense finish, but Eckington couldn't find an equaliser much to the relief of the Crowle supporters.

Ambassador moved within a point of regaining the Division One crown with a three-goal win over nearest rivals Moreton Wanderers with Dyer, Beattie and Emms all finding the target.

Only Upton Snodsbury can stop the Evesham side from taking the title after goals from McManus, Wood, McLean and Spencer gave them the points at Evesham WMC.

A Ben Greenwood hat-trick led the Bear to victory at Red Horse, while basement side Inkberrow won at Mickleton with Underwood netting a treble in a game marred by a bad injury to a Rangers player.

Division Two had already been wrapped up with champions Bretforton Old Boys coming from behind to defeat runners-up Willersey with Paul Jones netting twice and Jamie Hands on target for the hosts.

Moreton Town Sunday clinched promotion from the third division with a 4-2 defeat of Queens with Timms scoring twice for the winners.

Gardeners Arms maintained their challenge for promotion as goals from Haughty and Smith helped defeat Sporting Theocs.

Norgren secured their Division Three status with victory over Golden Cross, while doubles from Haines and Adams saw Ashton to victory over Wickhamford.

A Gary Buckland goal consolidated Broadway second string's third place in Division Four with victory over Bengeworth Sports.
