Wanderers miss out as Town clinch title

BRETFORTON Old Boys lifted the Birdseye Sports Evesham and District Sunday League's Knockout Cup with victory over Moreton Wanderers at Common Road on Sunday.

The Cotswold Division One outfit started the better and took the lead inside the opening 20 minutes when Mills headed home.

However, further chances went begging and the Old Boys made them pay when Sam Linley broke down the left and fired in an equaliser just before half-time.

Curtis Major ran on to a through ball to give Bretforton the lead five minutes into the second half before Jon Gregory's header put the game out of Moreton's reach.

Ambassador clinched the first division title with an easy victory over Inkberrow with Tim Beattie netting twice as the Evesham side retained the crown.

Upton Snodsbury moved second after a three-goal win at Mickleton where all the goals came in the final 20 minutes courtesy of Zujiovic, Rogers and McLean.

Broadway United rounded off a satisfactory opening campaign in the top flight with a win over Red Horse thanks to goals from Dyke and Alcock with Harris replying for the Horse.

Moreton Town lifted the third division crown after goals from Jamie Hurrell (2), Shurmer, Boulton and Neale defeated Ashton.

Eckington stayed second with victory over Gardeners Arms with Andrews and Lane on target, while Crowle hit seven passed the Bell with James hitting a treble.

Action in the fourth division was concluded with Broadway Reserves scoring all their six goals in the first half against the Royal Oak with Smith and Buckland both scoring twice.
