Juniors in pool action

THE second round of monthly pool matches have now been completed in the Prudden Road Surfacing Junior Cup and Bidford, Shipston A and Alcester are favourites to qualify from their respective groups.

Henley and Studley, meanwhile, are joint equal in the battle to be their pool champions.

The Finals night between the winning teams from each of the four pools will be held at Bidford on Monday, June 17 from where the top two teams will play in the final at Stratford-on-Avon TC on Sunday, September 3.

Dominate

Bidford's Harry Naylor teamed up with Josh Dalton-Moore to dominate their Pool A opponents. They first beat Stratford B's Liam Brzezinski and William Highfield 6-1 before proving too strong for Daniel Hellier and Alex Hughes (Stratford A) 6-1.

A clean sweep was completed when they overpowered Snitterfield's Jack Albrecht and Jonathan Smith 6-1.

Pool B saw Henley and Studley reverse last month's results with the latter emerging undefeated as Jack Allum and Sam Hillpert-Smith took on and beat Matthew Williams and A J Hughes (Claverdon) 6-3 and Tanworth's Andy Turnbull and John Starmer 6-2.

They also got the better of Henley duo Andrew Cooper and Farrell Treacy 6-0 who recorded wins over Tanworth (6-1) and Claverdon (7-6).

Shipston B shocked their A team by destroying their unble-mished Pool C record.

Charlie Taylor and Sam Dex-ter first defeated Ilmington's George Matts and Nick Robertson in a close 7-5 match.

They then surprised every one by beating A-teamers Ben Lane and Nick Taylor 6-3 but their run halted by Chipping Campden's Toby Robinson and Jeremy Crowther who recorded a 7-5 triumph.

Shipston A whitewashed both Campden and Ilmington who got the better of their Cotswold rivals 6-2 in what was the most topsy turvy of all the groups.

Alcester again claimed the Pool D plaudits as twins Michael and Arthur Bennett Pershore 6-2 and Inkberrow A and B 6-0, 6-2 respectively.

Pershore claimed second spot when Josh Carr and Sam Cross didn't lose a game against Inkberrow A before overcoming the B team 6-1.
