Entries hit record levels for Trials

THIS weekend's Broadway Horse Trials has attracted 600 entries - testament to the success and popularity of these events.

The first event, staged in May last year, saw 250 competitors and that had increased to 400 for the second staging last October.

Former international eventer, Nigel Tabor, established the event 12 months ago and he announced earlier this week that Broadway Financial Planning has agreed to sponsor this year's event.

Competitors will ride over a new course that has been constructed to allow the Trials to be extended from Intro and Pre-Novice levels to include several Novice sections.

As part of their sponsorship, Broadway Financial Planning is offering a trophy to the overall winner of the Novice sections and this will be jointly presented on Sunday evening by Kate Adie, former BBC war correspondent and author, and Keri Carter of the event's main sponsors.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Simon Williamson said: "We are delighted to have this opportunity of being involved with the development of this exciting initiative."

Broadway Horse Trials sees this title sponsorship as a key factor in the establishment of the venue in the British Eventing calendar on a long-term basis.

It is also a further endorsement of these weekends as important events in the Cotswold calendar, and, in particular, to the surrounding localities.
