VILLAGE HALL APPEAL FUND: Another successful event at the hall last Sunday gave the fund another boost as well as providing a most enjoyable evening's entertainment for the many people who attended.

The show on this occasion, attributed again to Shindig whose work in bringing first class entertainment to an increasing number of villages in the area is proving to be very widely appreciated, was provided by The Carnival Band in a programme entitled Round the World in 80 Tunes. Lively music by talented professionals, colourful costumes and spirited presentation made for a first-class entertainment which was very enthusiastically received. Coun Joyce White gave an impromptu speech of appreciation at the end.

CAMEO: St James' Church will again be the venue on Wednesday, May 10, for the regular gathering of the CAMEO people who meet every month to take afternoon tea and enjoy each other's company but, on this occasion, they will be joined by the children of class five from Harvington School. Replies have been received from the children concerned saying how much they are looking forward to this unusual. To accommodate the children and their home time, tea will be at 2pm instead of the usual hour of 3pm. It is hoped that this invitation will be reciprocated and that June will find the seniors visiting the school for a return visit.
