Lambs silenced as frisky hosts prove too strong

Braintree Development 34pts,

Shipston Lambs 5

BRAINTREE'S young side proved just too 'frisky' for the Lambs last Saturday when, in front of a heaving North Essex clubhouse balcony and touchline, they were made to chase all over the pasture to find any grazing!

The home team were much quicker to the break down and frequently exposed the visitors' lack of cover once open possession had been won.

Veteran Andy Powell did his best to hold the Lambs' pack together and, had it not been for a teammate trapping his 'hoof' when a metre out, the No 8 would have had an easy pushover.

.James Plumb plugged as many gaps as he could at centre with good defensive support from Rob Easton and Ed Warmington but full back Tom Wilson was still asked to do too much on his own and couldn't help getting exposed.

Shipston's leading try scorer, Pete Buchanan, was continually under pressure at scrum-half and never broke free.

Guest wing forward Chris McCann brought the scores level for the Lambs after 20 minutes but Shipston never really looked likely to match the home side.
