Swimmers hit pool heights

CRAIG Skinner (10/11) of Tewkesbury Swimming Club took the honours at the Birmingham Open meet when winning the 100m butterfly and coming second in the 100 freestyle.

Many swimmers, although not winning medals, improved on their personal best times in what was a very strong competition.

At the Derby Open, Tewkesbury finished overall top club with Ashley Dougan (16) and Lewis Cole (15) the top senior and juniors respectively.

Phil Bluck (14/15) was second in the junior category and Harriet Parker (16) was second senior girl.

James Butler (14) was third in the 14-year boys and Greg Baxter (10) matched that finish in the ten-year boys age group.

Phil Bluck won silver medals in the 100 and 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke and freestyle.

Chris Yoxall (16) also won a brace of silver medals in the 50m backstroke and freestyle while also claiming bronze in the 100m back.

Lewis Cole continued his good form when winning three golds in the 100 and 200m butterfly and 100m freestyle. He then added a silver in the 200m freestyle and bronze in the 100 IM.

Ashley Dougan touched for gold in both the 200m butterfly and 50m freestyle, while also taking a further three silver medals in the 100 and 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Harriet Parker won gold in the 200m freestyle along with silver in the 100m butterfly. Greg Baxter (100 breast) and Lauren Blake (200 free) also won silver medals as did Jess Bayliffe (14) in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle to add to bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Jack Laughland (11) won bronze medals in the 200m breast and backstroke while Will Gibney (13) and James Butler also raced to bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
