FLORAL ART SOCIETY: The society held the yearly open meeting at the Arts Centre on Wednesday, May 3. This was a sell-out. The two demonstrators, Bob Harris and Andrew Lloyd delighted the members with their arrangements. There were 25 separate arrangements. All these were raffled. Sales were brisk at the various stalls, with the home-made cakes being another sell-out. The chairman, Mrs Chris Parkinson, hosted the event, with Mrs Sheila Hand giving the vote of thanks. Everyone had an enjoyable evening. During the year there will be visits to various places, usually with coach places paid for by the club. This year sees a further visit to Longhope, the home of Bob Harris and family. Also still to come is the yearly garden party - this year to be held at the chairman's house - in August. New members/visitors are always welcome at the monthly meetings - first Wednesday each month. Subs are £14 (over-60s £12), per year. Visitors £3.50 per meeting.
