EVESHAM'S main Invitational Day event met with an untimely conclusion last Saturday when lightening forced players off the course.

Other club fixtures were also interrupted but the invitation event has been rearranged for Saturday, June 17.

Another highlight of the club's calendar, the annual Centenary clash with Stratford and Burton-on-Trent saw the hosts club run out easy winners.

Staged since around 1894, the stableford competition saw Eve-sham amass 381 points to Burton's 345 and Stratford's 305.

Richard Minton carded the best individual score of 37 points with Jere-my Cain close behind with 34.

Unfortunately, the club's progress in the Daily Mail National was brought to an abrupt end with a 5-0 reverse against Droit-wich.

Peter Callaghan and club chairman Tony Fawcett did make prog-ress, meanwhile, when winning one up against Welsh opponents to move into round three.
