Frantic finish in cup clash

PERSHORE progressed into the second round of the Worcestershire County League's League Cup competition with a last over defeat of Barnards Green last Wednesday night.

The 12 eight-ball over knockout clash saw the visitors asked to bat and Martin Johnson produced an excellent early four-over spell that produced one wicket at a cost of just 14 runs.

Luke Dalley was the chief wicket taker with a trio of victims but his four overs cost 43 runs as Pershore were set 127 for victory.

David White and Reuben Rivers-Smith added 57 for the third wicket to set Pershore on the way to victory but, the loss of five wickets in the space of 24 balls, left the match in the balance.

However, the chasers edged to victory with just two balls and three wickets remaining.
