BRETFORTON sent a veterans team to play in the inaugural Over- 30s Teambath.com event at Bath Univer-sity last Sunday when the long journey pro-ved worthwhile as the villagers emerged victorious.
Goals from Andrea Cole, Becky Mawby and Judith Langworthy hel-ped defeat stroud 3-0 in the opening game and it was Cole who pulled the plug on next opponents City of Bath when scoring the only goal of this game.
The third game against Whitchurch Saints was the toughest but Mawby was on form scoring twice in a 2-1 win that also owed much to the efforts of goalkeeper Vicky Webb and defe-nders Jane Wheeler, Bobbie Handley, Sarah Cooke and Sarah King.
Jaspers were next up and it was Sarah Bragg and Mawby who spoiled their day when they gave Bret a 2-0 lead.
That advantage was halved but good work from Lisa Workman, Handley and Langwo-rthy in midfield ensured this was only a consolation.
Bretforton now only needed a point from their last two games to secure the win. Mawby and Cole netted in a 2-0 defeat of Chippenham, while Cole's winner against Wells City Acorns rounded off a long but profitable day.
