HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: Members produced many lovely vases of garden flowers for the monthly competition which was won by Eunice Russell. More than 50 members came expecting to hear Dr Wilson from Cogges Farm Museum showing Historic Gardening Tools but he was unable to attend after a car accident. Members will, however, be going to Cogges Manor Farm Museum on June 21, 6.15pm at the War Memorial, transport being provided by members for those in need, the cost is £4 per head and a dozen places are left. The July outing is to Hampton Court Palace with transport provided by Pulhams Coaches at £16 per head on July 12, with a 9am start. Peter Sheasby of Bloxham agreed to come to the May meeting in place of Dr Wilson, and entertained with slides of wild flowers in Eastern Turkey. The vote of thanks was given by Ray Fardon.

Next month's speaker will be Bob Brown of Badsey Nursery on Cotswold Garden Flowers, on June 14, and he will have plants for sale. The competition will be for one stem of any flower. Schedules and raffle tickets for the annual autumn show are available from Ray at Gorse Leigh, Rissington Road, (821087) and Rosemary at Berkeley House, Moore Road, (810388).
