BROADWAY parish councillors have supported a plan that will guide the future of the village.
The steering group, a committee of 10 volunteers, residents and traders from the village, formulated the parish plan that was an-nounced in 2000 under the Rural White Paper, which set out the government's plans for the countryside.
Plans should identify key fa-cilities and services and any problems that may need to be tackled.
The steering group conducted a survey last year and consultation events to find out what services were needed in the village.
The steering group conducted a village-wide survey, which had nearly 800 responses, an open day in July 2005, attended by more than 60 people, and various meetings with traders and local schools and clubs and other organisations.
A village design statement for future development is included, as is the idea of a village newsletter, a communications group and a youth co-ordinating group to improve facilities for young people.
Jim Schmitz a Broadway resident and the final editor of the plan said: "We're delighted to reach this important milestone of full par-ish council approval, for what is a local plan to serve local people."
A formal launch is planned later in the summer similar to the open day.
The parish plan is available for review and comment at the parish plan office in Russell Square and online at www.broadwayvillage.org.uk until Wednesday, May 31.
