Proud run ended as Joe lands leveller

Tewkesbury Tn 2, Cheltenham CS III 2 TOWN dropped their first points in 30 Cheltenham League games after to a below par performance.

It was no surprise when the visitors took the lead midway through the first half and Town still didn't wake up. And, with half-time looming, they fell further behind after more sloppy work at the back.

Tewkesbury showed a far greater urgency after the break and George Kirby halved the arrears after jinking his way past two defenders.

They continued to press and it was Joe Goodwin who grabbed the equaliser.

Both sides had chances to win it with Paul Kavanagh dragging a late effort wide.

Tewkesbury will be looking for a return to winning ways in Saturday's County Cup tie with Churchdown Panthers.

The Sunday side progressed to the next round of the Evesham League's Knockout Cup with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Broadway.

James Heath headed past the stranded keeper after a good cross from Joe Goodwin to open the scoring before Danny Sollis rolled the ball into an empty net for a second.

Plenty more opportunities came and went with Jake Pettitt being the chief culprit before the third goal arrived courtesy of a cool finish from Sollis.

The second half started with Tewkesbury gunning for more goals against increasingly disp-irited opponents and they duly arrived as Pettitt made it 4-0 before United netted a consola-tion.

There was still time for Pettitt to score a second and Paul Kav-anagh to set up Heath for the sixth.

Tewkesbury entertain Defford and Besford on Sunday.
