Two swimmers make splash in City!

TEWKESBURY swimmers Harrison Moore and Ashley Dougan proved their worth to their new club Gloucester City at the Weymouth Speedo Warm-up meet.

Their potential was further heightened when they were both selected for the county squad to represent Gloucestershire at the forthcoming Inter-County Championships at Sheffield later this month.

The meet at Weymouth was a preliminary for the coaches to make their selection for the City team to represent the club in the forthcoming Speedo Leagues that start in Leamington this weekend.

Dougan won both his individual events, by a clear four seconds in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1.00.01 and by nearly three seconds after clocking 1.05.95 in the 100m backstroke.

Moore took 1.29 seconds off his 100m individual medley personal best with a time of 1.07.57 to be just beaten into second place.

The boys then swam superbly to help take first place in both the men's Open Relays comfortably winning the Medley by more than nine seconds and then the six-handed free relay with almost 20 seconds to spare.

The Gloucester club finished in second overall behind West Dorset.
