Rugby clubs rattle up points

THE Under-14 players from Bredon Rugby Club went on a scoring spree in their first-ever knoc-kout clash when they entertained Old Saltleians in the preliminary round of the North Midlands Cup.

The tie was wrapped up by half-time by which time the hosts had rattled up 41 unanswered points due to tries from Mike Price (2), Ross Attwood, Dave Andrews (2), Simon Harkness and Alistair Horne.

Scott Bunch landed three conversions and, despite the visitors showing greater resolve in the second half, the Buzzards ran in two more tries from captain Will Graulich and Bunch to record a handsome 55-0 success.

The Under-13s almost matched that tally when they visited Ledbury where Matt Hughes, Elliot Stookes and Ollie Toomb crossed for tries in a 49-0 triumph.

The club is looking for new players in all age groups. Training and matches are on Sunday mornings, log on to www.bredonbuzzards.com for contact details.

l TEWKESBURY'S second team came within one point of rattling up 100 in Saturday's Merit Table clash with Old Cryptians.

The hosts crossed for 17 tries with Simon Dawes leading the way with five. Dave Randall (3), Stu Brady (2), Gaz Burton (2), Dave Taylor (2), Andy Poke, Joel Randall and Andy Hailing also scored.

Chris Goscombe (4), Burton (2) and Rob Davies shared the successful conversions.
